PASTOR OF FAMILIES and STUDENTS (Full-time*)

Story Church is a missional, 8 year old church with a simplistic structure and schedule. We have a passion for forming kingdom people and planting missional communities and missional churches. Our Vision: We are a collection of people with stories imprinted by brokenness and the redemption of Christ. Our Mission: We are a community defined by movement; a people knowing, living and telling the love story of Jesus to the world.   

OBJECTIVE:

The ideal candidate will have a passion for pastoring the church with a love for teenagers and their families. This is a co-pastor role that will involve regular preaching. The Pastor of Families will help lead the church and work directly with the pastoral team for personal mentoring and leadership training. The first objective is to build a healthy ministry to teenagers and their families (see responsibilities below). The second objective is to develop and implement plans for family discipleship for families with children of all ages and varying family contexts.

  • Maintain a balance of family, community, and ministry life. Ministry requires suffering on the part of the shepherd, but never at the expense of losing your family or credibility in the community. Be a trustworthy leader with integrity, humility and responsibility. 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Weekly staff meeting and meetings with pastor (direct report) for encouragement, development and planning on a monthly basis or as needed. 

  • Attend and participate in monthly elders meetings and all leadership communication. 

  • Attend and participate in yearly leadership retreat. 

  • Help organize special ministry events such as community outreach events, Night of Worship, etc. (We are not an event driven church, but we do host some community events)

  • Build and Lead 3 Areas Student of Ministry

    • Ministry Team: Develop a group of Disciple Makers who will provide hands on leadership for the Spiritual Development of our Middle and High School students.

    • Parents: Create a culture among supportive parents who will help with organization, promotion and administrative duties of the Student Ministry.

    • Students: Facilitate a weekly gathering for Middle and High School students. Build a team of leaders who can develop ministry related skills to further their role in the church and community.

        • Build relationships with teenagers and their families through mission, discipleship, and time spent in biblical fellowship.

        • Develop and establish a Student Ministry for Story Church with an emphasis on Spiritual Development including knowing, living and telling the love Story of Jesus.

        • Plan relational experiences that help facilitate these goals without overburdening families and the church schedule.

STORY CHURCH, WORSHIP PASTOR (Part-time*)

OBJECTIVE:

To lead the people of Story Church in Biblical, Christ-centered worship. We have 2 weekly gatherings, Sunday at 9 and 10:45 AM. We are a simple church, with a simple schedule and a simple vision. Our church life does not revolve around our building or our worship gatherings, but around our vision and mission. When we gather, it is to celebrate who God is and what He has done. As it relates to singing in our Sunday gatherings, we are open to most music artists/labels. However, it is our desire to sing songs that maintain sound doctrine. While much of our music is modern, we are not opposed to singing older and even ancient hymns.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Weekly Staff Meeting or weekly check-in with Pastor (depending on availability) 

  • Attend and participate in yearly Leadership Retreat 

  • Attend and help organize special ministry events such as Night of Worship, etc. 

  • Build and Lead the Story Worship Team; be a good recruiter of ministry partners 

  • Build relationships with Worship Team and their families

  • Develop and implement yearly strategies for Story Worship with an emphasis on Spiritual and Musical Development.

  • Plan meetings, training and events that help facilitate these goals without overburdening the church schedule. 

  • Lead worship by singing as well as playing guitar or keys.

  • Lead and train team members through practice and preparation. 

  • Speak the Word of God effectively, pray and encourage the church during worship gatherings. 

  • A working knowledge of AV equipment and Pro Presenter a plus.

COMPENSATION: 

This part-time position of 8-12 hours per week. We recognize that the job responsibilities listed above are not possible on a weekly basis. Compensation will be commensurate with ability, experience and availability of the candidate. We welcome a conversation with you.
